The 2014-2015 bowling season is just over a month old and there have already been several honor scores rolled at Sam’s Highland Park Bowl, most of which coming from the Highland Park Early Birds League. Dan Waline rolled games of 247, 278 and 288 for an 813 series. Harry Hatayama sandwiched a 299 game between 286 and 216 lines for an 801. Mark Williams topped both Waline and Hatayama with an 836 series, built on games of 299, 237 and 300.
In the Rock Island County VFW League, Dean Chase rolled eleven in a row to cap off a 769 series with a 290 game. As the USBC has elected to do away with the “eleven in a row” award this season, Dean has a choice of a pocket knife or clock from the Greater Rock Island County USBC. Also in the Rock Island County VFW League, teammates Ryan Erickson and Justin Reaves bowled 299 games in the second game of their league session. Their teammates, Steve Carter, Josh Cantrill and Matt Erickson added 223, 242 and 238 lines, respectively, for a 1301 total.
Other honor scores bowled thus far this season at Highland Park Bowl include Tom Johnson’s 300 game and 761 series, a 300 by Jason Bradley for a 745 series, a 300 for Ben Sparacello, 299’s for Todd Cook and Darren Callow and an 805 series for Billy Newman. Also, honorable mention to Ralph Beck who topped the Highland Park Seniors League with a 286 game.
On September 3rd at Milan Lanes, Greg Hinz strung games of 254, 297 and 278 together for an 829 series. This is the first 800 series bowled in the past two seasons of the Milan Klassic League. Jerry Lange (754), Greg Bateman (722) and Greg Jump (706) have also topped the 700 mark so far this season. Greg Bateman currently leads the league in average with a 226 figure.
Joey Slawinski came up just short of bowling a 300 and had to settle for a 297 game at QC Family Entertainment Center. Maggie Suchoski put together games of 198, 244 and 258 for an even 700 series to top women’s scoring and David Ringier was the leading scorer in the Rick Thiem Classic League with games of 242, 228 and 262 for a 732 series. Congratulations to everyone on their great bowling so far this season.
