“The Retirees team in the Jolly Boys League at Town and Country Lanes recently posted a 675 game, a very good figure for a three-man team. This is especially true when considering the age of the team’s members.
Walt McDonald, 80, had a 229 game en route to a 620 series that day. Art Flanagan, the senior member, is 90 and he tossed a 220 line. His series came to 492. The third member, the kid on the team, is 59-year-old Chuck McCarroll who added a 226 game and a 635 series.
Current averages of these three men, including their big game, are McDonald 180, Flanagan 153 and McCarroll 196.
Word has it that they are also leading the league in the standings. That’s pretty good for a team whose average age is 76.”
