Throwback Thursday 12/15/16: Bowling Lines – Tri-City Classic

“The thrill that comes once in a lifetime to some bowlers and never to most of us has been granted for the second time to Ray Keefer, one of Moline’s real ten pin tigers. Ray picked up the second 300 game of his career at Plaza bowl last night. It came in the last game of the last night of bowling. Ray had some anxious moments on his 12 ball when he sent a curve crossing over thin on the 1-2 side. Everything went down, however, and Ray picked up a $100 check from Elmer Rogers for his fete. Ray’s first 300 came on Nov. 3, 1948 at LeClaire Lanes in Moline. Last night Ray needed that big count to share series honors with Wally DePoorter. Both fired 652 sets to lead the 10-man parade to the select list. Mooney Plumbing, with 1,080, and Consumers Sales, with 2,940, led teams. Western Transportation will be honored as league champ at the annual banquet May 3 at the Tower.”
